Re: Henderson Silver Knights

And apparently they already have 8,300 season ticket deposits.

Re: AHL officially cancelling season

True, but they don't need to have their prospects go to the AHL to play. It would be FAR cheaper for an NHL team to just participate in prospect tournaments. AHL staff and prospects stay in NHL city and practice at team facilities. Let's say this weekend the Blackhawks host a prospect tournament for...

Re: AHL officially cancelling season

Cheapseats, I think the NHL could survive...in the short term. One reason why I think they are so willing to go to Labor Day (or whenever) to finish this season is not just because the playoffs are so important, but also because they DON'T WANT to start next season in October. Let's just assume thin...

Re: AHL Shut Down???

Right.

This thread/discussion was people speculation from BEFORE the announcement. Once the announcement of cancelation came, the discussion moved over to that thread.

Re: AHL officially cancelling season

There is no way. Minor league teams struggle to be profitable as it is. Now, take away the crowds and they'll just bleed money. The question to me is what if most the league can have crowds...but some can't? But then again, that's probably irrelevant in the AHL because most of the league is in Calif...

AHL officially cancelling season

Shouldn't be a surprise, but Patrick Williams is reporting that the AHL is officially shutting it down for the 19-20 season. He also is reporting that, while no announcement is coming, it is highly unlikely the AHL will come back until crowds are back pretty-much across all of North America. Just co...

Re: AHL Shut Down???

I don't think they are tied to the NHL. The NHL gets TV money to bring in substantial amounts of revenue, even with no fans in the stands. The AHL does not. If there is any NHL regular season left, it will just be a handful of games. Once the playoffs start, NHL teams are used to having their AHL te...

Re: AHL Shut Down???

NMU, no they didn't. That was an unofficial idea the players association came up with. That hasn't even gotten to the point of a formal proposal to the owners yet. The league has, so far, said that starting next season on-time is important to them. The players, obviously with such short career spans...

Re: Affiliation Circus

* see different uniforms every year I get getting frustrated about seeing the same 5 teams come into the AA week after week after week within the same season. But AHL teams change so much within seasons, much less from season to season. 2 years later you are looking at essentially a completely diffe...
