Traffic Concerns

Postby WolfBoy » Thu Oct 03, 2013 10:02 am

Our tix arrived yesterday! :D However, so did a traffic alert about the Eastbound NW Tollway exit to Manheim being closed. I haven't been in the O'Hare area since early summer, how bad is it tore up? Also, does anyone know if the I-190 exit to Manheim North is closed as well? Any update would be appreciated.

No problem. When I went to pick someone up at the airport the other day I saw it was closed. What a mess it will be when they start working on 90!

Excuse my ignorance of the Chicago roadways, but as someone who makes the drive down from Milwaukee for Wolves/Admirals games, I think I go 94 to 294 to 190, and exit 190 on Manheim Road. Is this Manheim Road the exit you're referring to that is closed?

That's the one.

You'll need to take I-294 south to I-90 West (Northwest Tollway) and exit at Lee Street instead.

Can someone explain why exiting at Mannheim from I-190 is better? Is it faster on some game days?

If 90 W is backed up, many people bail at Lee, causing quite the back up at times.

If you have an IPass you can go through the cash side, then you're already in the lane to exit.

NB 294 traffic can exit at Balmoral, go West on Balmoral to Manheim North.

The detour though is quick. Go past the closed Mannheim north exit (it's only the ramp that is closed) to Mannheim South exit, go up and around re enter I190 east then exit immediately onto Mannheim North.
