The end of an era

Postby warno » Tue Mar 06, 2018 8:33 am

For those of us who grew up around here in the 70s and 80s, this is truly the passing of a legendary station

http://www.robertfeder.com/2018/03/06/rock-radio-shocker-christian-broadcaster-buying-loop/

The Loop was THE rock station in town for decades. When I was in high school, having a Loop shirt was a badge of honor. Sad to see it go.

I heard this on the radio this morning. So sad, and I also wore the Loop shirt back in the day!

Listened to the last hour of Steve Dahl guesting on the Loop yesterday, pretty cool

Honestly haven't listened to the Loop in years. I was a Dahl/Meier and JB/Kilman fan along with the music in the late 70's, 80's and 90's but for over a decade I've been WIIL and Spotify (more recently)

I heard the last 3 songs were:

3. Shout at the Devil
2. The Number of the Beast
1. Highway to Hell

Highway to hell was definitely the last song followed by 20 seconds of silence and the right into some Jewish carpenter music

FM Radio has been dead for quite some time now (keep telling my neighbor that, XRT fan). Though sad, no surprise. I have Loop t-shirt that still fits pretty well.

I only had one LOOP shirt. I got it at a disco demolition Steve Dahl did out in Hoffman Estates. We tore up Herman Brood and his wild Romance album jackets. Steve was there in his insane Coho Lips uniform, I'm pretty sure it was before the real Disco Demolition at Comiskey Park.

I don't mind the new format but it's already on one other station and I really liked having the loop as an option. Like others I grew up on that station and miss it right now. Bummer...........
