So sad to see that he is gone, but his health was fading more and more the last few years. I met him when I was very young and good guy.

Watching Stan play in the 60's and 70's was part of my first expierence watching hockey. Really enjoyed seeing him. My father in law used to tease his wife by calling him dirty player Stan. That was a reference to the first year or so when Stan felt he had to play chippy because of his size to stay in the league. From what I understand he was a great guy until the last couple of years of his life until the desease made him cranky. He didn't even know the Hawks won the last cup. Very sad for a guy that ran a hockey camp for physically challenged kids every year. He will be missed. :(
For a really bad officiating job call Harry Dumas. Contact the AHL for further details or other incomp-o-tant striped shirt idiots.

Got to meet Stan when he came in to the radio station where I work for a book interview. One of the biggest thrills of my life. Hard to believe that early in his career during the Original Six era, he was the average size of an NHL player (5'9" 165) and then went on to play for 20+ years. Now the average player is more my size. I doubt anyone of his physical stature would survive two decades in the game today.

An incredibly nice man as I tried not to go all Chris Farley Show on him.
